I have no idea when this photo was taken, there’s a real mixture of bathing suit styles here, so I’m guessing maybe 1950s? What do you think? Either way I just love the carefree happy smiles on these girls faces!

Since the navel wasn’t exposed before the bikini in 1947, I’d date this between the 1930s and 1940s, with two girls playing dress-up in swimsuits from eras past.
I think that sounds about right – it certainly isn’t 1920s which fits with the earlier style. Which is your favourite though?
Definitely Miss In-The-Middle, but without the stockings; I love going barefoot in the sand.
I would LOVE to find a 2 piece swimsuit like in this picture! At age 47, I finally have a figure that’s not too skinny and not too ‘thick’ and know I could just ROCK that, but I will NOT buy any of the skimpy suits I see in the stores- they aren’t very flattering for ANY body type!
It’s v pretty suit isn’t it – it was probably home made though. I’m tempted to see if I can find a vintage pattern and make one but I’m not sure my sewing skills are up to it
