Marlene Dietrich with one of the first manicures

Marlene Dietrich

Marlene Dietrich photographed during the 1930s. It’s nice to see a photo of her in a day outfit rather than a vampy evening dress.

Her manicure would have been quite a new thing too, as nail polish was only invented in the 1930s and started with by the kind of manicure you can see here where the tips and half-moons were left unpainted.

Source and copyright: This is a press photograph from the George Grantham Bain collection, which was purchased by the Library of Congress in 1948. According to the library, there are no known restrictions on the use of these photos.

Great look, a nice finishing touch with manicure. Have to remember this next time I wear a look like this, to complete it with appropriate nail finish.
