Strictly Sketching Sunday

Vintage fashion sketches

I can’t tell you how nice it’s been today to have some free time to relax and do some sketching. I haven’t done any drawing for months, things have just been too busy, but I do enjoy it. I also find the costumes in Strictly Come Dancing really inspiring. Yes, they’re gaudy and covered in crystals and sequins, but they all tend to hark back to vintage styles. 1920s for the Charleston, 1930s for the Foxtrot, 40s for the American Smooth, 1950s for the Jive (can you tell I’m a Strictly superfan?)

Of course though when you’ve got children, you’re not allowed to sit quietly for too long, hence Theo’s design (at the bottom of the page).

It’s pretty good for a  7 year old boy who isn’t in the slightest bit interested in fashion (I think). You can definitely see the Strictly influence there, in fact I think he’d do a pretty good job in their costume department. I particularly love those crazy tights… What do you think?
