Gene Kelly photographed in his US Navy uniform during the Second World War, probably 1944 or 1945. He enlisted in the US Naval Air Service and was stationed in the Photographic Section, Washington D.C.
He looks mighty dishy in a uniform doesn’t he? He was one of my first crushes when I used to sit and watch re-runs of old movies as a kid. Who was your first movie-star crush?

I never really had a crush on old Hollywood stars initially. The very first crush on an actor I remember having was Pierce Brosnan – back in the old Remington Steele days, before the movie roles came along.
It was only later I developed old Hollywood movie star crushes. My first was probably Danny Kaye (I know, but I’m a sucker for a good sense of humour), then I moved on to Spencer Tracey. I do admit though, Mr Kelly does have that lovely chiselled look. I watched a series of old interviews with him recently and he seemed a very down-to-earth and lovely man.
ah yes, I remember having a soft spot for Pierce Brosnan in Reminton Steele too, along with Magnum of course…
*swoon* My first celebrity crush was Fred Astiare. I was a teenager in the 90’s and thanks to my gran I spent way too much time watching old movies. She got me a Fred Astaire photo and I used to gaze at it longingly. I never did end up crushing on modern movies stars. At the moment I am seriously crushing over William Powel (especially the chemistry between him and Myrna Loy)
Errol Flynn ~ Although I wrote and got an autograph from Jimmy Durante when I was 6! lol
Cool! I wrote off to lots of people I adored in London West End productions when I was a kid. I had a big crush on Greaseball from Starlight Express (Drue Williams *sigh*)
