This advert from 1936 is from a Lucky Strike advert (hence the cigarette I suppose). I don’t know who the model is, but she looks like Marlene Dietrich wearing a fabulous orange saree (perhaps a wedding one – anyone know enough about bridal sarees to confirm?). I guess that was probably intentional, Dietrich was one of the biggest stars of the 1930s so her look must have been emulated everywhere… I particularly love her manicure!

It’s a picture by Nickolas Muray, « Lucky strike, la fille en rouge », 1939. The model’s name is not mentioned.
The resemblance with Marlene Dietrich is indeed intentional, I think. You can see other photos here (one of them looks clearly inspired by Lauren Bacall) :

I see what you mean about the resemblance to Lauren Bacall in that other photo. Great information, thanks for sharing it 🙂
she looks so beautiful in a indian bridal saree. http://kanjivaramsilks.com/indian-wedding-sarees . Although a cigarette in her hand looks contradictory to indian culture
Superb
