Book review: The Vintage Tea Party BookI love cookery books. I have an enormous collection of them. So many in fact that they’ve spilled out of my kitchen bookshelf onto windowsills and work-surfaces. So imagine my delight when my lovely friend Lou Lou introduced me to a ‘vintage’ cook book: “right up your street” she said, and I totally agree!

The Vintage Tea Party Book is an absolute delight. It’s an unusual beast in that it’s not just a recipe book, it also gives you all the advice, inspiration and confidence to throw your own vintage tea party (or breakfast, lunch or dinner party for that matter).

The fabulous Angel Adoree takes you by the hand and leads you through a nostalgic vintage world, where you can make your own decorations (beautiful butterflies, flags, fascinators), a series of cute retro aprons and of course some deliciously tempting recipes.

The recipes themselves range from the whimsical and fun (Lollipop and Jam sandwiches and cream cheese and cucumber hearts) to the more sophisticated (Rose Pannacotta and Lemon Scones with Lavender Cream and Saffron G&T Shots), and it all looks delicous.

I plan to make pretty much everything in this wonderful book and envisage throwing many vintage tea parties in the process!
