THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. THE WINNER IS Martina Alban. CONGRATULATIONS MARTINA, YOU WILL BE CONTACTED TO ARRANGE DELIVERY OF YOUR PRIZE.
Amanda Rosenbloom, proprietor of Astor Place Vintage, thinks she’s on just another call to appraise and possibly purchase clothing from a wealthy, elderly woman.
But after discovering a journal sewn into a fur muff, Amanda gets much more than she anticipated. The pages of the journal reveal the life of Olive Westcott, a young woman who had moved to Manhattan in 1907. Olive was set on pursuing a career as a department store buyer in an era when Victorian ideas, limiting a woman’s sphere to marriage and motherhood, were only beginning to give way to modern ways of thinking.
As Amanda reads the journal, her life begins to unravel until she can no longer ignore this voice from the past. Despite being separated by one hundred years, Amanda finds she’s connected to Olive in ways neither could ever have imagined.
Sounds great, doesn’t it?

I was loaned a copy of a vintage affair by Isabel Wolff. I enjoyed it because I could relate to a lot of the anecdotes, such as the guy she has hanging around the vintage stockings & lingerie section. I think all vintage stores have at least one of those!
Also integral to the plot are visits to an elderly lady selling her clothing collection. I’ve been there too. Tea tray and chats when really you know you shouldn’t be spending so much time on one buying trip but you feel for the seller it’s mores about the company and the interest shown in their clothes than anything else. They can be difficult situations.
I think the fictional shop is much busier than mine but then she’s not opened it in Huddersfield! Wonder why?
