A vintage sweet shop giving out free sweets, what lovely ladies!
Sorry! It’s taken me a couple of days to sort through my photos and get a proper post together for Goodwood Revival 2013. We went on Friday and on Sunday and had the most fabulous time but we’re still recovering from such a busy weekend (we also managed to take my son go-karting, do some necessary shopping and stay over with friends as well – phew!). I’ve put some of my favourite photos here and I’ll post more, including a proper outfit post, at some point over the next few days.
If you don’t know much about Goodwood Revival, it’s an annual event held at Goodwood Race Circuit in West Sussex and celebrates both the Second World War, when Goodwood was used as an airfield, and the post-war years when it was turned into a motor racing circuit. Visitors are encouraged to dress up in vintage clothing from the 40s, 50s and 60s (although I saw some flappers and hippies in there too as well as people in just regular clothes, so the dress codes isn’t obligatory), and this really adds to the unique spirit of the day.
As well as watching some hair-raising classic car racing, we saw aerobatic displays from Spitfires, fly-overs by bombers, danced to swing music, went on an old-fashioned fairground and generally soaked up the fabulous atmosphere. Amazing! And what’s even more astonishing is that my beehive held-up to the blustery September winds without suffering a total collapse. It’s astonishing what kirby grips, backcombing and a whole can of hairspray can accomplish!
Here’s a selection of some of my favourite outfits from the days I visited, what do you think? Sorry there are so many photos, I just couldn’t leave any of these out! Did any WHV readers make it to Goodwood this year?

I loved this pretty vintage hat and hairstyle – so stylish!

Curlers and tea dresses, this is how Dot Cotton probably looked back in the day

I loved this stylish cloche hat and cable knit jumper

Noel Edmunds (my only celebrity spot of the day) looking suitably vintage apart from that iPhone

A very stylish 1950s couple, with some very ominous rain clouds behind…

Me and Theo wrapped up warm and watching the classic car racing

Gorgeous 50s style zig zags and fur

Loud and psychedelic sixties outfits

Theo doing his best Michael Caine impression after being given some free Michael Caine specs

Slightly out of focus, but very pretty 50s dresses

Fake moustaches, pipes and uniforms

It was a fabulous, but very tiring day, especially if you’re very little

LOVE this lady’s hat, cardy, bag, dress – pretty much everything!

Tres chic in tweed, fur and velvet

Glamour girls, with slightly fake smiles…

The lovely Glamourcabs girls looking fabulous

The Vintage Merry Go Round, which I had to ride side-saddle because of my miniskirt. Not an easy thing to do!

Sometimes the old favourites are the best…
