While I spend a lot of my life in relaxed 70s-style jeans or little sixties-style minidresses, it’s nice sometimes to dress like a grown up! And 1940s fashion is perfect for that. There’s something very elegant about it which makes you want to do your hair nicely and put some makeup on!
I was lent this lovely vintage 1940s silk dress by Revival Vintage and as soon as I put it on I felt like it deserved some effort. I teamed with my new winter coat (faux fur of course) from Dorothy Perkins and a pretty 1950s hat from Style Me Betty. It’s a pretty eclectic combination but I loved wearing it, now I just need somewhere to wear such an elegant outfit. Anyone getting married?

You look a million dollars. I sold my faux fur last year and regret it, they are such a vintage staple, your new one looks great. Love the rouleau loops, so elegant. Helene@revivalvintage x
Thanks Helene! I’ve now got 2 which might be a bit much. I’ve a big longer-haired white coat with a hood and this one which is much smarter. I think that’s definitely enough faux-fur coats for 1 person!!! Loved dressing up though *such fun* [channeling Miranda]
Dear Mary, you are indeed so classy and chic – Wow !!! If I could go back to 1956 (both of us were not even born…) I would be pleased inviting yourself to Grace Kelly’s marriage 🙂
Kindest regards, Augustus.
You’re too kind Augustus! That would have been such an event to go too though wouldn’t it – wow…
Let’s see the dress!
