My son had a sick-day off school today and had the fabulous idea of making his own teddy bear. He carefully drew one out on a piece of paper and went through my bag of scraps of material to decide which body parts should be made from which bits of material…
The fluffy material I’ve had sitting around for about a year waiting to be used for something, the arms are left over bits from an old pair of curtains, the green leg is an old cushion cover, the leg is left over from a puppet theatre my mum made for Theo a few years ago and the ears are from a vintage dress which I turned from a maxi to a mini dress. The eyes are vintage buttons from when I chopped the arms off this 1960s minidress and the rest of the buttons were collected from various draws around the house.
I didn’t have high hopes for this project when we started, but Theo is genuinely delighted with the result. Bless him, he’s at a lovely age where it wouldn’t occur to him to think that the teddy is a bit rubbish 😉
If you’d like to see more pictures I’ve posted them here. What do you think? Have I missed my calling in life?
