Following on from my fascination with the history of the London Underground earlier this week, I wanted to share this amazing video with you.  It shows original footage of London in 1927 next to the same journey photographed now.

It’s not just interesting to see how different things are (the number of buses vs cars, pollution, fashions, policemen directing the traffic), it’s amazing how much of the London landscape has stayed the same whilst feeling like a much more industrial place.

The video was created by Simon Smith who painstakingly retook footage himself to match recently restored footage of London in the 1920s taken by cinematographer Claude Friese-Greene. Hasn’t he done a great job?
