How do you fancy winning yourself a wonderful pair of vintage glasses? They’re a great way of introducing a little vintage into your everyday life and it’s great to find yourself something truly individual. I adore my cat eye glasses (have you seen them yet?) and I thoroughly recommend getting a pair. It’s easy to get the right sizing online too, just measure your current glasses (or your face) and take a look at these instructions. It worked a treat for me!

About The Vintage Optical Shop:

At night, when the rest of the world soundly sleeps, we grab our flashlights and hit warehouses and flea markets.  We jostle in secret underground auctions and scour the deepest recesses of the web. The mission? To find the highest quality vintage and antique eyewear that the world has ever seen.

After we have procured our precious cargo, we sprint them back to our secret cellar where they are inspected for quality, professionally cleaned and polished to give them that final touch. All of our vintage eyeglass frames are ready for your prescription or sunglass lenses and are fit for daily wear.

From 1850s through the 1980s, we stock authentic vintage eyewear that were lovingly handcrafted, not produced – giving each pair that character, history and quality you only find in days of old.

We take particular pride in serving as the Robin Hood of eyewear, carefully preserving the spectacles of yesteryear and making them easily accessible to anyone wishing for a glimpse of the past.

We’re not going say that if John Lennon hadn’t worn his quintessential Windsor frames the Beatles might not have taken off. But anything is possible.

About the Prize:

1 pair of vintage cat eye sunglasses from The Vintage Optical Shop.

Named after their resemblance to the shape of a cat’s eye, cat eye glasses are probably the most popular style of vintage eyeglasses. Though cat eye glasses were around since the 1950’s, they reached their peak popularity when Audrey Hepburn wore a pair of cat eye glasses in the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. They then spiraled out of control, keeping fashion designers busy trying to figure out who could create the most random, creative design’s, with pointy, swoopy wings, often adding rhinestone’s and other jewels.

Cat eye glasses became the fashion accessory of the next decade. Though they started falling out of favor in the early 1970’s, cat eye glasses are still a favorite for many women around the world and are highly sought after. For the contemporary woman wishing to make a fashion statement and an entrance, cat eye glasses is a fashion accessory must have. The Vintage Optical Shop has 100’s of different styles of authentic vintage cat eye glasses to choose from. We are constantly growing our collection, always looking for more unique cat eye glasses for our customer’s.
