I wanted to share with you the two latest additions to my vintage insect collection. Aren’t they fabulous? Well, I’ve learned from experience that bug jewellery is very much a matter of personal taste, they seem to have the power to either delight or revolt, but I love them! I especially love the wings on the moth which are set en tremblent so that the move and tremble when you wear it! Novelty brooches were particuarly popular in the 1940s and 50s and insects were one of the big trends.
Both items are from Miss Kitty’s amazing vintage store, which I urge you to check out if you’re ever looking for something beautiful. And if you see any other vintage insect-themed jewellery please let me know!
Pinterest …!
Good idea. I think I’ll go start a pinterest board on that now…
I’ve seen tons of insect jewelry there … I happened to pin one right before I read your entry …
Very nice! We don’t have any insects currently, but we do have some sweet golden starfish earrings: http://vintage-earring.com/product/47
