We were at Goodwood Revival yesterday, and oh what a glorious day! Beautiful sunshine, fabulous fashions and some great classic car racing too. The day was only marred by my bad outfit choice: my feet really hurt due to impractical and untested shoes and I was wearing a dress which turned out to be far too low-cut so I spent the day feeling rather uncomfortable. Ooops!
Above: a mini pop-up version of Brighton Pier complete with sand, deckchairs and a Punch & Judy show: throwing the baby down the stairs, being eaten by crocodiles and making sausages out of people. I just don’t know why you don’t see puppet shows any more… The children didn’t seem to find it at all disturbing but I think the adults did!

The fabulous 1960s grid girls striding off. Don’t they look amazing?

Gotta love this vintage 1950s jacket!
This lady would have won my ‘most outrageous hat of Goodwood 2014’ had I not then spotted this lady (below)

who looked like she was on her way to a rather magnificent gothic funeral

Gasoline Alley where all the bikers hang out

Quadrophenia anyone?

Relaxing in deckchairs listening to the jazz band

Even though toughest of gents can’t resist petting a donkey
Naval chic – you’ve got to love a man in uniform!

These ladies definitely had the right idea. I’ll be dressing as a land-girl next year – so much more comfortable!

I love this little girl’s accessories: a bunny and a little satchel

There were many-a-pair of itchy woolen army trousers on display in the late summer heat, so I bet I wasn’t the only uncomfortable person out there…

Take a look at these amazing 60s silver go-go boots!

More WW2 land and factory girls. Definitely the way to go!

A rockabilly biker chic with fantastic hair

I thought this girl looked like a normal pretty version of Lady Gaga. Is that just me or can you see the similarity too?

2 Lancaster bombers do a spectacular fly-by. Apparently one was over from Canada and it’s probably the last time two will fly together.

Very elegant, and I love those green shoes!

I have no idea what was going on here: saucy 1940s housewives posing with random clergymen. You definitely see some sights at Goodwood!

The Queen laughing – who knew there was an official portrait of her which was this fun!

Natty spats at the Veuve Cliquot stand
Amazing hairstyle!

Let this be a lesson to everyone dressing up – if you want to look like you’re in fancy dress, wear a dreadful wig!
Which is your favourite outfit so far?
The photos were mostly taken with my Canon EOS 60D camera. The lady with the huge feathery hat was photographed using with my iPhone 5S.
Wonderful pictures. I love seeing everyones fantastic vintage outfits at Goodwood. I really want to go one day. xxx
Thanks. It was a lovely day and some of the outfits were amazing. I wish I had the stamina to wear heels all day, some of the outfits were SO elegant! I’m not going to be sucked into that ideal again though, it’s a land-girl outfit and flats for me next year!
Have been looking forward to these for ages, another great collection of pics. Always hope to recognise some of our stock, always have an upturn of sales just before it. I’m with Vintage Frills, need to get myself there!! helene@revivalvintage.co.uk
Thanks Helene, it wash such a nice day out. I would definitely recommend it! I’ll post more photos later in the week – let me know if you spot any of your outfits! đ
What a lovely picture of the Punch and Judy audience – I was the performer (Professor Queen-Bee) hidden inside the booth, who the children were all shouting at!! x
