Tomorrow Queen Elizabeth II overtakes Queen Victoria as the longest serving monarch in British History.  I was born in the 1970s so she’s always seemed very much an older woman to me, so I thought it might be nice to see some photos of her as a young woman. I particularly love the photos of her around the time she got engaged and married – they made such a good looking couple!

Sadly there are no times and places with these photos, but  you can kind of work out the timeline if you look at some key events in her life: She was born in 1926, worked in the Womens Auxiliary Territorial Service in WW2 as a driver and mechanic during 1944 and 1945, got engaged in July 1947, married in November 1947 and she was then crowned in 1952.
